ABOUT TED:
Ceramic Artist | Potter | Glaze Innovator
Ted Secombe has cultivated a studio practice spanning over 45 years, continually evolving through experimentation and dedication to his craft. His work focuses on beauty, allowing each piece to hold its own dialogue without reliance on external explanation.
Ted specialises in porcelain, exploring the complex responses of Japanese, Chinese, and Australian porcelains to a variety of glazes. He experiments with firing procedures, chemical nuances, and multi-firing techniques to achieve subtle, dynamic surface effects. Some of his pieces are wheel-thrown and altered, expanding the possibilities of form and texture.
A regular participant in Yarra Valley Open Studios, Ted’s work reflects a balance of technical mastery, innovation, and a lifelong commitment to the ceramic medium.
