ABOUT SHLOMIT:

Based in Warburton, Victoria, Shlomit Moria is a wood sculptor and chainsaw carver whose practice celebrates the living nature of wood. “I love the way the wood dictates the piece; the little bit of unpredictability fascinates me and reminds me to let the magic do its thing without trying to control it.”
After many years in the two-dimensional world of graphic art, Shlomit has followed her lifelong passion for three-dimensional sculpture. She began her wood carving business in 2017, initially selling through markets, and by 2018 had attracted commissions from landscape architects, leading to larger works for playgrounds, schools, and private clients, including Parks Victoria and Stonnington Council.
Shlomit works primarily with chainsaws and other power tools to shape large pieces of timber, creating dynamic, expressive works that highlight the natural character of each tree. She is a regular participant in Yarra Valley Open Studios, sharing her distinctive bushwood creations with the community.
