MARISA AVANO

A visual adventure

Painter | Landscape Observer | Visual Explorer

“Each painting is a journey to self-discovery, an observation into the world around us, and a way of finding a connection with the viewer. My work is informed by my experience with the Australian landscape and encounters with people. Each experience brings me back to the canvas one more time.”

Based in the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges, Marisa Avano creates evocative acrylic paintings that explore our deep connection with nature. Her work reveals the beauty and complexity of our relationship with the natural world, charting a visual adventure through moments where the earth reveals new aspects of itself.

Attuned to the rhythmic movement of earth, water, air, light, and colour, Marisa’s art captures the quiet pulse of life through layers of texture and emotion. Born in Melbourne into a family of artists, she later studied art and design, developing a distinctive style that blends observation, intuition, and personal reflection.

Her work has been exhibited widely and selected as a finalist in major national awards including The Alice Prize (NT), Lethbridge Landscape Prize (QLD), Gosford Art Prize (NSW), Percival Portrait Painting Prize (QLD), and Bay of Fires Art Prize (TAS). Marisa’s paintings are held in private collections across Australia and overseas.
