Inspired by nature, beautiful colour combinations and contrasts…
ABOUT LYNN:
Seeker of Light | Emerging Artist | Painter of Calm and Colour
Lynn Baxter is an emerging artist whose lifelong love of creativity has found new space to flourish now that her sons are grown. Originally from Sydney’s Northern Beaches and now based on the edge of the Yarra Valley, she draws daily inspiration from the beauty of the natural world around her.
With a background in interior design drafting, Lynn is intentionally shifting away from the precision of technical drawing toward a freer, more expressive visual language. Inspired by her favourite movement — Impressionism — she seeks to capture atmosphere, light, movement, and feeling in her work.
Her practice is grounded in a love of colour, contrast, texture, and the way nature quietly astonishes us. Working across genres and media, she is particularly drawn to the softness and immediacy of pastel, while also exploring acrylics and watercolours, with plans to venture into oils.
Lynn continues to expand her practice through workshops and ongoing learning, including pastel classes with renowned pastellist Janet Hayes. She thrives on exploring new subjects, ideas, and techniques, always aiming to create works that evoke a sense of calm, wonder, and connection.
