Photography as an alchemical journey of connection

ABOUT KATE:

Seeker of Soul Through the Lens | Fine Art Photographer | Alchemist of Light and Shadow

Kate Baker is a fine art photographer drawn to the mystery and essence of things — working primarily in black and white film and, more recently, exploring alternative photographic processes such as cyanotypes and paper negatives. Her work is grounded in the belief that photography can reveal something beyond the visible: “a pathway to connection with that which is both within us and greater than us.”

From intimate portraiture to meditative studies of windows, or collaborative works inspired by Nijinsky and the lyrebird, Kate’s photographs reach into the soul of her subjects. She uses small, medium, and large format cameras, and handcrafts each image in her darkroom and studio in Warburton.

Since 2005, Kate has exhibited in galleries across Australia and Berlin, with gallery representation in both cities. Her photographs are held in private collections internationally.
