Jenny davis
I find beauty in decay, random marks, aerial perspectives, graffiti and weathered surfaces
ABOUT JENNY:
Artist | Urban Archaeologist | Explorer of Decay and Surface
Jenny Davis is a multidisciplinary artist based in Victoria’s Yarra Valley, whose work explores the beauty found in urban decay and the marks left behind in the built environment. With a practice spanning painting, sculpture, drawing, collage, book arts, textiles, photography, installation, sound, video, and virtual worlds, Jenny seeks to illuminate the overlooked: weathered surfaces, forgotten structures, graffiti, and the cast-offs of city life.
Jenny has lived and worked across Australia, Paris, London, and Spain, where she was awarded an arts residency in Barcelona. Her creative and research projects over the past 20 years have taken her throughout Europe and the US. Her work has been exhibited widely, including in Berlin, Paris, Spain, the UK, and the US, and features in both public and private collections. Highlights include digital projections of her work in Times Square, New York, and at the 57th Venice Biennale in 2017.
Driven by a fascination with under-structures, derelict spaces, and aerial perspectives, Jenny’s work embraces abstraction and imperfection—finding resonance in the fragments, textures, and remnants of the man-made world.
