ABOUT DENISE:

Wildlife Painter | Nature Lover | Conservation Advocate

Denise Smith’s art practice is rooted in a lifelong love of nature and a deep concern for the conservation and preservation of animal habitats across the globe. Her vibrant, expressive works bring these themes to life on canvas and paper through a range of mediums including acrylics, inks, pastels, watercolours, and mixed media.

Based in the Yarra Valley near Healesville, Denise paints from her purpose-built, north-facing studio, surrounded by native flora and regularly visited by birds and wildlife - constant inspiration for her work.

Denise is largely self-taught, building her skills through years of experimentation, intermittent peer-led lessons, and consistent dedication to her craft. Her passion and perseverance have been recognised through numerous art awards, and she remains a firm believer that “one never stops learning.”

A regular participant in Yarra Valley Open Studios, Denise also runs workshops from her home studio, sharing her knowledge and love of art with others.
