ABOUT BEV:

Colour Alchemist | Garden Observer | Creator of Joyful Mixed Media and Pottery

Bev’s art practice embraces both painting and pottery, allowing her to explore colour, texture, form and the joy of making. They have moved to a new home in Millgrove, opposite the Yarra River, where they have a large shed that is divided into a space for her husband and herself. Working in her new studio space, she moves between these two disciplines intuitively, allowing each to inform the other.

Bev’s mixed media paintings are created through layers of acrylic paint and inks, built up using a variety of brushes, tools and mark-making techniques. She enjoys the process of layering, revealing and responding to what emerges as the work develops.

Pottery is an equally important part of her practice. Working with different clays, she creates texture and surface through a variety of techniques to make both functional and sculptural ceramic pieces. She also collaborates with her husband, Graeme, who creates with metal and Bev adds some ceramic elements to the piece.

Through her work, she hopes to bring joy and spark moments of curiosity and discovery through a lively interplay of colour, texture and form.
