ABOUT AGNES:

Painter | Nature Enthusiast | Visual Storyteller

Based in Healesville in Victoria’s picturesque Yarra Valley, Agnes Szetey is a self-taught artist whose career spans several decades, more than 20 solo exhibitions, and numerous awards. Her expressive and detailed paintings have been collected and admired by art lovers, critics, and curators alike—two of her works have even been acquired by the National Gallery’s curator for the arts.

Agnes paints a wide variety of subjects, including landscapes, birds, flowers, horses, cattle, and coastal scenes. Her inspiration comes from the breathtaking Australian environment—from the fern gullies and tall gums near her home, to the vast deserts, majestic mountains, and serene beaches of the broader landscape.

Working primarily in oil, Agnes brings to life vivid, realistic scenes that speak to the heart. Her work is known for its warmth, emotional depth, and ability to evoke a strong sense of place—capturing the wonder and natural beauty of Australia for generations to come.

Agnes has proudly participated in every Yarra Valley Open Studios event, and her paintings continue to inspire joy and connection in all who encounter them.
