After enjoying family and ‘mob’ holidays throughout my childhood I grew to love the bush and beaches in our beautiful country.  I was born in Chelsea, Victoria and grew up in Seaford.

After watching my mother, June Cook, sketch and paint I wanted to emulate her.
My mother gave me a box of watercolour paints and tutored me in the magic of watercolours.  Since then I have tried Acrylics, but my passion is pastels.  I saw a portrait demonstration by Barbara McManus using soft pastels which had beautiful colours, the impact was immediate.

I have attended the following art classes:

1996 - Plein Air and Perspective using Acrylics with Colin Johnson at the Peninsula Art Society, where my mother was a life member.
2002 - Drawing Classes 1 and 2 at Swinburne University in Charcoal and Conte, which included life drawing.
2005 - Portraiture and still life with Barbara McManus at the Victorian Artist Society, who I had seen demonstrating portraiture at the Peninsula Art Society which drew me toward the medium of Pastel.
Some of the workshops I have attended are:  life drawing with Janet Knight; still life pastel with Grace Paleg; landscapes and seascapes pastel and plein air with Regina Hona; pastel with Ted Ludwig, Ross Patterson; pastel plein air with Margaret Evans; watercolour with Malcolm Beattie; and watercolour/pen and ink with Maxine Wade.

After attending the 2-day workshop with Maxine Wade I fell in love with the use of black ink.  The flow of the ink was so amazing, watching the colours change, merge or stop in their tracks.  Another wonderful form of watercolour.  Since then I have won a major award and sold many of my creations.
I have now been painting full time for 6 years which has enabled me to improve my skills enabling me to receive awards and sell to the public at various exhibitions.
My favourite subjects are reflections and landscapes, but now I am diversifying in other areas.
Arthur Streeton, Tom Roberts, Frederick McCubbin, Edgar Degas and Rembrandt are my inspiration.

I am a member of Sherbrooke Art Society, Pastel Society of Victoria and Yarra Valley Arts.
My first solo exhibition was held at Sherbrooke Art Gallery in 2017 which was a great success with many sales taken at the Opening.
Many of my paintings are held in private collections in Australia, Finland and Holland.
