Yarra Valley Arts is a not for profit organisation dedicated to enhancing the cultural lives of those who live, work and visit the Yarra Valley. Yarra Valley Arts (formerly known as the Yarra Valley Arts Council) has reviewed and refreshed not only our name, but our Vision and Mission Statements and our website. www.yvarts.org.au

Yarra Valley Arts has a wonderfully rich history, spread over the past 28 years. It is run by a volunteer Committee of Management, supported by financial and non-financial members and grants from various sources. The team meets regularly to plan and implement arts activities for the coming twelve months.

Individuals (that could be you!) and groups with ideas for art related projects are invited to contact Yarra Valley Arts, for assistance, advice or support. YVARTS exists to inspire creative expression, engagement and community connection with the arts. New ideas and new energies are the stimulus that drives development and creative action. We invite you to join us and learn more about this volunteer arts group.

More early history as remembered by Nan Francis.

Past President Marcel Theunissen

Productive Years - from Marcel Theunissen

Over the previous five years the committee has come a long way and made a lot of progress.

Starting in 2012 with a completely revised strategic plan we:

  • developed an entirely new website with dedicated emails in place based on the new www.yarravalleyarts.org.au domain name and decommissioned the old [email protected] email address;

  • put Yarra Valley Arts on the social media map with Facebook (and Instagram will come online soon);

  • designed and implemented a complete range of membership services;

  • completely revised the newsletters and newsflashes;

  • designed and set up an online membership database which is linked to our newsletter, payment system as well as our main Facebook page;

  • implemented the online payment solutions and integrated across the different media;

  • revised the format of the AGM to include more (art) community involvement;

  • held several new events eg small sculpture exhibition (late 2016) and an integrated art component during the Yarra Valley Wine & Food Festival 2017;

  • planning for YVA Open Studios with a new format spreading the event over three months and 3 different areas of the Yarra Valley.

I believe it is fair to say that as a committee we had a number of very productive years and with more committee members now coming on board, we all have a lot of confidence that Yarra Valley Arts will continue to grow as a driving force and continue to get closer towards our vision:

As one of Australia’s major tourist destinations
the Yarra Valley is recognized as one of the
country’s leading art regions

Marcel Theunissen (President 2013-2016)

From President - Reggie Clark 2017 - 2019

We'd like to thank Marcel for his vision, drive and dedication to revitalising Yarra Valley Arts over the past 5 years.   I'm looking forward to continuing to work with the team to support and provide creative opportunities for our inspiring Creative members.

Our feature project this year is the new format YVA Open Studios so along with the YVA|Yering Station Sculpture Exhibition as well as social events, 2017 will be a busy year!

If you'd like to join our team or have ideas that would benefit our members please get in touch with us.
