An award winning artist, Christen Jo Stone (Jo) has developed diverse arts skills and enjoys combining these, mainly expressed in 3D forms.
Jo has worked in Jewellery, particularly Wirework, Clay, Textiles, Letterpress Printing and Design, Sculpture and Basketry. She enjoys discovering the possibilities of new creative media, always true to the sculptural forms she loves, no matter the media. A trained teacher, Jo has spent many years teaching in Secondary Colleges, community groups and private classes, sharing the skills she has developed.
Recently returning to jewellery making, Jo has added the theme of Steampunk to her work, extending this into the other media she has enjoyed in her creative career also. Steampunk can be described as ‘Victoriana SciFi on steroids with attitude’. Steampunk embraces the handmade, opening up many fun possibilities for creativity.
The organic work she creates reflects her love of the environment and she feels so lucky to be able to enjoy nature's delights so close where she lives and works in the magnificent Yarra Valley of Victoria.
